Every time you read a text explaining how something works or how to do something, you are effectively reading a technical document. Before you can legally sell products and appliances in Europe, all technical documentation must be translated into the language of the country where the product is to be sold in accordance with EU Council Resolution C411. As you can see, technical translation is involved somewhere along the lifecycle of every product sold or specialised service provided. Technical translation plays a crucial part in modern industry. It is a driving force in disseminating ideas, information and expertise and has facilitated some of the most significant scientific and technical advances of recent decades. Accuracy is of utmost importance in order to prevent misuse of products and warn of possible risks and hazards.
